Remodelers Chairman Bob Peterson Reflects on 2011
Bob Peterson, CGR, CAPS, CGP

Dear NAHB Remodeler Member,

It has been my pleasure and honor to serve as your chairman in 2011.  Though our industry is experiencing difficult times, as 2012 begins the remodeling market is trending upward. Throughout 2011 and the past few years, I am proud that remodelers have always remained professionals who are dedicated to our customers and our craft.

The community we’ve built within NAHB Remodelers has been a source of strength when the going got tough and an endless resource for its members.

It’s been long struggle with EPA’s Lead Paint Rule, at a time when many of us can least afford the extra expense. In the past year, NAHB has continued to fight provisions in this rule that create undue burdens for remodelers in addition to continuing a lawsuit recently heard by the Washington D.C. Circuit Court.

It was a great day for remodelers this July when EPA rejected the proposal to add third-party clearance testing to the Lead Paint Rule.

I hope that everyone is able to join us at the 2012 International Builders’ Show. February in Orlando will be a break from winter weather for many of us. IBS will be an opportunity to reconnect with old colleagues, meet new friends, and get up-to-date on the latest remodeling trends.

Make sure to stop by the Remodeler’s Central in W310 to visit, rest your feet and grab a snack at any time in the day. It’s not too late to register for IBS!

I am pleased by the RMI, consumer spending and employment numbers we saw at the end of 2011 and know that with the continued professionalism of our members there are better times ahead.

Thanks!

Bob Peterson
